Now here's the strange thing: Last time this happened, I force-quit Firefox and went to download Edge because I didn't want to reboot at that point. Also, disconnecting and reconnecting WiFi does not help. Safari keeps working when this happens, so it's not a general issue with network access. To get it to actually load websites again, I have to reboot Sonoma.
but every actual Internet page will continue to be be completely blank and fail to load. After force-quitting, I can relaunch Firefox and access a few things such as settings, about: pages. When I try to quit Firefox once this happens, it will beachball - I have to force-quit.
Lately I found that after a day or two, when I maximize Firefox and try to use it, it's unresponsive: the pages I have open stay open, but it won't load any new pages (new tabs just stay completely blank). So most of the time, Firefox sits minimized in my dock with a few tabs open. I use Firefox as a secondary browser for some sites that don't work well in Safari. Ever since upgrading my MacBook Pro 14' 2021 (M1 Pro) to Sonoma, I've been having sporadic issues that might be related to Firefox - though I'm not sure if Firefox is the actual cause, see below.
